Pride Month

With the general rise of conservatism, nationalism, clerofascism, and the raging disinfo scene, the voice of the so-called anti-gender movement is growing.

Although anti-gender does not have a specific definition, part of their narrative is the existence of a global spin that intends to subvert the "good old traditional family".

According to the scientific work of sociologist Eva Svatoňová, the anti-gender discourse is an umbrella for homophobia, among other things.

"Around 1995, the language used to talk about queer people is changed. It is no longer spoken of as a minority, and it begins to be spoken of as a powerful pressure group. In the Czech-Slovak public space, this language begins to appear around 2010."

The suppression of minority rights starts the process of demolishing democracy. That is why it is necessary to stand up for LGBTQ+ rights early.

It's only a step from gay rights to suppressing abortion rights, banning sex education, etc..

The Rainbow Skull is therefore not only a symbol of LGBTQ+ support, but an icon of defiance against the anti-gender movement in all its forms.

The skull was colored at the moment when the absolutely demented debate on marriage for all was taking place in the Chamber of Deputies, in which the troglodytes of the KDU-ČSL in particular excelled.

Our colourful icon is therefore not just referring to the ongoing Pride, but is opposing long-term campaigns paid for by Russian money, among other things.

With the Rainbow Skull t-shirt, in addition to visually supporting LGBTQ+ in public space, we also support the We Are Fair project, which seeks marriage for all.

Unfortunately, we will not be attending this year's Pride. We have overstretched our organizational strengths and are unable to assemble a team during the holiday season to properly prepare, set up, and staff a booth that we would hate to just blow off.

We have therefore cancelled the originally planned NVR Spot at Letná after some consideration.

Apart from the Big Rainbow Skull, we had prepared two other t-shirts (women's and men's) with colourful embroidery, the sale of which will again, at least symbolically, support the @jsmefer project.

All three t-shirts can be found in our Prague shop on Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad 18, or on our e-shop.
